Christian approach
Front and side-veiws of Christian approach
Christianity,
a relatively late entrant in the Indian religious scenario, nevertheless
caught on rapidly. The missionaries brought with them European refinement
and shadow techniques which added a new dimension to Indian art. Large
masses of people embraced Christianity and churches were an experiment
in the confluence of traditional European and Indian styles. While the
cross was accorded its customary importance, most othter embellishment
had an Indian flavour to it.
